A Monongalia County woman admitted to a child pornography charge in court on Friday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.
Tara Ponceroff, 26, of Morgantown pleaded guilty to one count of “Aiding and Abetting Production of Child Pornography,” according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Ponceroff admitted to producing and distributing child pornography involving a minor in December 2017 in Monongalia County.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Ponceroff faces up to 30 years incarceration and a fine up to $250,000. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
Ponceroff had her initial appearance in court in August 2018, where she was accused of producing and distributing child pornography involving two children from November 2017 to January 2018.
This case is being prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Assistant U.S. Attorney David J. Perri is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government and the West Virginia State Police investigated.
