Montgomery County Schools the latest district to sue e-cigarette companies

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Another Kentucky school district has filed a lawsuit against manufacturers, distributors and sellers of electronic-cigarettes and vaping products.

The Montgomery County Board of Education announced the legal action Tuesday in an effort to reduce teen vaping and recover costs associated with students’ use of the products.

The board says those costs have come in the form of counseling, educating and disciplining student for vaping-related incidents. They say the lawsuit will come at no cost to taxpayers and district funds will not be used.

Bullitt, Fayette and Jefferson county schools have all filed similar lawsuits.
