Rioters torch Richmond bus

RICHMOND, Va. -- GRTC service was delayed until 9 a.m. Saturday after a night of protest turned into a destructive rioti n Richmond.

Rioters set a GRTC Plus bus on fire early Saturday morning at the corner of Broad Street in Belvidere in downtown Richmond.

“Pulse bus 2004 is a total loss, but all other buses that were in service are home safely,” a GRTC spokesperson said.

What began as a peaceful protest in Monroe Park on Friday night ended with the bus fire and hundreds of people marching in the streets to protest George Floyd's death and displays of police brutality towards African Americans across the country.

In addition to the GRTC bus fire, a Richmond Police car was set on fire and windows were broken at Richmond Police Headquarters on Grace Street.
