MADISON COUNTY, Fla. — A Perry man was arrested after he was found with methamphetamine while trying to run away from authorities.

Abel Guerra, 59, was arrested by the Madison County Sheriff's Office.

On July 8, at about 3:30 p.m., Drug Task Force Investigators saw two suspicious men in the parking lot of the Deerwood Inn Motel located at the interchange of Interstate 10 and State Road 53 South.

One of the men was recognized by DTF Investigators as Guerra.

Guerra is known by Task Force investigators from a previous drug investigation. While talking with Guerra, investigators learned that he had an active arrest warrant out of Taylor County.

As investigators tried to arrest Guerra, he resisted by fleeing on foot. Investigators were able to apprehend Guerra within a short distance.

During the arrest, a plastic bag containing a large amount of crystal methamphetamine was found in his pocket along with a smoking glass pipe.

He is being charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, resist officer without violence, possession of drug paraphernalia, and an out of county warrant.

Guerra was taken to the Madison County Jail.
