On Saturday, December 8, the class of 2018 moved their tassels from the right side to the left.

While graduating is a huge accomplishment for all students, some of them like, Lori Suttle, find it extra special.

“I am the first generation in my family and my immediate family,” Suttle said.

Lori Suttle just graduated with a masters in social work. During her time at Concord University, she had a full time job along with her full schedule of classes. She said not only did she do it for herself, but for someone dear to her heart.

“It was more for my dad who passed away 10 years ago, so this was for him,” Suttle said.

Suttle explains that it was a lot of hard work, but it has payed off. After this, she is going to work at West Virginia University in Huntington. President of Concord University, Kendra Boggess, said she enjoys seeing students like Suttle go on to live their dreams.

“Graduation is always a very happy time, because students work very hard for this opportunity to finish and go off into something important in their lives,” Boggess said.
