Birmingham Police: Grid search for Kamille McKinney produced no evidence
AS WELL. EUNICE: POLICE ARE MORE THAN A WEEK INTO THEIR SEARCH FOR KAMILLIE "CUPCAKE" MCKINNEY. OVER THE WEEKEND, POLICE AND VOLUNTEERS CONDUCTED A GRID SEARCH IN AN AREA OF EAST BIRMINGHAM. POLICE SAY THE SEARCH SPANNED ABOUT TWO MILES, NEAR SPRINGVILLE AND HUFFMAN ROADS. A GROUP OF VOLUNTEERS HELPED POLICE WITH THAT SEARCH AND WORKED FOR MORE THAN FOUR HOURS, BUT, UNFORTUNATELY, THEY FOUND NO SIGNS OF THE MISSING 3-YEAR-OLD. RIGHT NOW, POLICE ARE CIRCULATING THIS NEW SURVEILLANCE VIDEO. IT’S FROM THE NIGHT OF KIDNAPPING AND IT SHOWS TWO DIFFERENT MEN APPROACHING KAMILLE AND ANOTHER CHILD. POLICE ALREADY KNOW WHO THE SECOND MAN IS, BUT ARE HAVING TROUBLE IDENTIFYING THE FIRS MAN IN THAT VIDEO. THERE IS STILL A $25,000 REWARD FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO KAMILLE’S SAFE RETURN OR THE ARREST AND CONVICTION OF THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE. IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION AT ALL, GIVE POLICE A CALL. ANY LITTLE BIT OF INFORMATIO COULD BRING HER BACK HOME. WHILE CREWS STILL SEARCH FOR KAMILLE, COMMUNITY MEMBERS CAME TOGETHER TO HELP THE CAUSE IN A UNIQUE WAY. VOLUNTEERS HELD A CUPCAKES FOR "CUPCAKE" FUNDRAISER YESTERDAY AT MORE THAN CONQUERORS FAITH CHURCH WITH OVER 600 CUPCAKES READY TO SELL. BY 3:00 IN THE AFTERNOON, MOST WERE ALREADY GONE. ORGANIZERS SAY IT’S THE LEAST THEY COULD DO TO HELP BRING HER HOME. >> I SAID, LEAST WE CAN DO IN HONOR TO HER NAME IS RAISE FUNDS, SELL CUPCAKES FOR "CUPCAKE." CUPCAKES TO BRING "CUPCAKE" HOME. EUNICE: THE FUNDRAISER WAS A SUCCESS, WITH ORGANIZERS RAISING $3,000. ALL THE PROCEEDS WILL GO TO CRIMESTOPPERS. THERE ARE TWO LINES OPEN FOR CALLING IN TIPS IN CONNECTION TO THIS CASE. A new search for missing 3-year-old Kamille McKinney turned up no new evidence to help find her.The Birmingham Police Department, along with the Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel and other agencies and volunteers conducted a grid search today starting at 1:00 p.m.Birmingham Police says the search was done in an area just north of Springville Road near Huffman Road, and extended about tw0 miles.The search was completed at 5:30 p.m. and the BPD says no new evidence was found to aid in the kidnapping investigation.Kamille "Cupcake" McKinney was taken during a birthday party in the Tom Brown Village community Saturday, October 12th.If you see Kamille or have information which can help authorities find her, call the tip lines at 205-297-8413 or 205-254-7777.
