Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020Five people have been indicted for murder of a Ramsay High School student in 2019.A Shelby County grand jury has handed down an indictment for the murder of Ramsay High School Stanley Turner II, 17. Turner was found dead inside a vehicle at Sonesta Extended Stay Suites on Greenhill Parkway. Deputies responded to the area to investigate and located 17-year-old Stanley M. Turner II, deceased in the parking lot in his vehicle from an apparent gunshot wound. Investigators from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and began their investigation into the death. Sheriff’s Office Investigators with the assistance of other agencies have spent countless hours working this case with the goal of holding the individuals involved accountable for this unnecessary death. Through their diligent investigation the death has been determined to be a homicide during the commission of a robbery."The investigation led to the arrests of the following individuals:"Jakobi C. Witherspoon, 18 years of age from Pleasant Grove, has been charged with Murder and Robbery 1st Degree, and is being held at the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $500,000."Aja Kylandrea Brenee Whitt, 17 years of age from Pleasant Grove, has been charged with Murder and Robbery 1st Degree as an adult, and is being held at the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $500,000."Jamaal Antowain Phillips, 17 years of age from Pleasant Grove, has been charged with Murder and Robbery 1st Degree as an adult. He was arrested and subsequently released from the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $500,000."A male juvenile has been charged with Murder and Robbery 1st Degree, and is being held in the Shelby County Youth Detention Center."This investigation has been a collaborative effort by multiple law enforcement agencies. A Shelby County grand jury has handed down an indictment for the murder of Ramsay High School Stanley Turner II, 17. Turner was found dead inside a vehicle at Sonesta Extended Stay Suites on Greenhill Parkway. Sunday October 20 last year.



Update: Saturday, November 30, 2019, 12:58 p.m.:

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office has made a sixth arrest in the death of Stanley Turner II, 17.

Rodriquez T. Allen, 20, of McCalla, is charged with Murder and Robbery 1st Degree.

Allen is in jail on a total bond of $500,000.

Four teenagers from Pleasant Grove have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year-old Birmingham high school student.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a Birmingham teenager was found dead inside a car.

Authorities said 17-year-old Stanley Turner II was found in a car at Sonesta Extended Stay Suites on Greenhill Parkway around 1:46 a.m. Sunday.

It's unclear at this time how Turner died.
