Jefferson County, surrounding areas enact curfews ahead of potential protests
After protests turned violent in Birmingham Sunday night, cities in the surrounding areas have enacted curfews ahead of potential protests in the coming days.
In response to the destruction, Mayor Randall Woodfin announced a curfew Monday morning within the city of Birmingham.
Jefferson County
7:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. through June 9
**Will be enforced in unincorporated parts of the county by deputies; municipalities within Jefferson County will have the authority to enforce the curfew with their law enforcement agency
Adamsville
7:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. until further notice
Alabaster
7:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. until further notice
Bessemer
7:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. until June 14

7:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. until further notice
Gardendale
7:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m. until further notice
Homewood
9:00 p.m. - 4:30 a.m. through June 9
Hoover
7:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. until further notice
Hueytown
7:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. until June 8
Irondale
7:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. until further notice
Leeds
6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. until further notice
Mountain Brook

All cities announced no demonstrations, parades, marches or vigils can be held on public roadways or properties during the curfew. The curfew does not apply to those going to and coming from work.
It also does not apply to visitors traveling through the cities mentioned above or those in the following professions who may be out serving the community:
"City law enforcement officers, firefighters and other public employees; doctors, nurses, employees of hospitals and other medical facilities; on-duty military personnel whether state or federal; on-duty employees of public utilities, public transportation companies, and newspaper, magazine, radio broadcasting, and television broadcasting corporations. Employees of utilities, cable, and telecommunications companies and their contractors engaged in activities necessary to maintain or restore utility, cable, and telecommunications services or to official emergency management personnel engaged in emergency management activities."
