Cullman County native Josh Pinkard will be brought home to Alabama and laid to rest this weekend.
According to the Holly Pond Funeral Home, a visitation is scheduled for Saturday, with a service planned for Sunday. He will be laid to rest in a Holly Pond cemetery.
Pinkard, who graduated from Holly Pond High School, was one of five people shot and killed last week in Aurora, Illinois. He was the plant manager at the warehouse where a colleague opened fire.
According to Illinois police, the gunman was an employee who was in the process of being fired.
Tara Pinkard got a text from her husband after he had been shot. It read, "I love you, I've been shot at work."
Relatives of the gunman have offered their condolences to the Pinkard family, saying "we deeply apologize" for the killings.
Pinkard transferred to the Aurora facility and took a promotion as plant manager last year.
