The National Weather Service in Birmingham on Tuesday said it has confirmed 15 tornadoes in central Alabama so far following Sunday's severe weather outbreak. “SURVEY UPDATE: We have confirmed AT LEAST 15 tornadoes in Central AL from April 12th. This includes the tornado that touched down near Sardis City and moved into Boaz (@NWSHuntsville). We're still finalizing the data and plan to issue an updated PNS this evening.”According to NWS Birmingham, an EF2 tornado with 115 mph winds touched down in the Reece City area of Etowah County and an EF-2 with 125 mph winds hit just northwest of Sayre in Jefferson County.An EF-1 twister with 100 mph winds was confirmed in Tuscaloosa County, northeast of the city. Storm surveys are still ongoing in other areas of the state.Survey teams on Monday confirmed an EF-1 tornado with 100 mph winds caused extensive damage in Carbon Hill in Walker County. They also identified EF-0 tornado tracks in Locust Fork and Oneonta in Blount County.—Severe storms caused widespread damage in in several central Alabama counties on Easter Sunday.
