UPDATE 8/6: The Jefferson County Coroner has identified the victim as 17-year-old Cyrus Montez Abrams of Birmingham.No suspects are in custody at this time.Birmingham police encourage anyone with information related to this incident to contact the Homicide Unit at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.Birmingham Police are investigating a shooting that killed one person and injured three more Tuesday night. Sgt. Rodarius Mauldin says West Precinct officers were patrolling the area around 11:00 p.m. when they heard multiple shots fired in the 1000 block of 15th Way Southwest. Shot Spotter also notified officers of 20 rounds fired in that area. Mauldin says officers arrived at the scene and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim, who has not been identified at this time, was pronounced dead by Birmingham Fire and Rescue in the courtyard of an apartment complex. The other victim was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.After the incident, Birmingham police were told two more people with non-life threatening injuries were transported to local hospitals by private vehicles.Detectives believe the gunfire was exchanged between the four victims. A motive for the deadly exchange has not been established. No suspects are in custody at this time.
