SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWLP) – Springfield Police arrested two men and seized 500 bags of heroin on Friday.
According to Springfield Police Department’s spokesman Ryan Walsh, Officers were called to Washington Street around 4:30 p.m. from a ShotSpotter Activation. They located a car that was suspected to be involved and stopped it near the intersection of Belmont Ave and Orlando St.
Police detained the driver, 19-year-old Edwin Rios-Rivera, and the passenger 18-year-old Miguel Ruiz-Gonzalez. While detaining Ruiz-Gonzalez, officers found something sticking out of his waistband which were two half-packs of heroin.
After fully searching the car, police found a total of 500 bags of heroin.
Both men are being charged with possession with the intent to distribute a class A drug.
