SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Springfield homeowner put out a fire in their residence after it was struck by lightning Monday.

The Springfield Fire Department told 22News firefighters went to 9 Moss Road Monday evening where a house was struck by lightning.

A resident inside extinguished a small fire in the rear of house before firefighters arrived.

Springfield fire said there are less than $5,000 in damages and no injuries.
