Governor Charlie Baker put his stamp of approval on a community workspace in Springfield Tuesday night.
Make-It Springfield on Worthington Street is what’s known as a maker space, meaning it is a shared space where people can come to work on various projects.
The Make-It Springfield space is focused on community, offering free workshops on everything from bicycle repair to sewing.
Make-It Springfield was originally meant to be a month long project, and Baker said their long-term success made him want to see it first hand.
“When you start something that is supposed to be a 30-day gig, and it is still in operation two years later, that says something positive about what you are up to and what you are doing,” said Gov. Baker.
Make-It Springfield has outgrown their space. They’re in the process of looking for a larger collaborative workspace.
