If you’ve been driving around western Massachusetts recently, you know how bad the pothole problem’s getting.

The weather we’ve been having this winter is contributing to our pothole problem.

After another round of wintry weather Wednesday night, Thursday was a mild day. The melting snow and ice create puddles and that water gets into cracks in the pavement.

When the temperatures drop, it freezes and expands creating potholes.

“In our area especially coming through Pittsfield there are awful potholes, and up here Clap Road you have to go very, very slow yes because of all the potholes,” one local resident told 22News.

It was a bumpy ride on East Street in Easthampton where numerous potholes have formed. If you can’t avoid them, you might want to slow down otherwise you could damage your car.
