Thursday is the one year anniversary of the shooting in Parkland, Florida.

March for Our Lives Springfield held a candlelit vigil in collaboration with Foster Memorial Church. The goal was to remember the students, faculty, and staff who have lost their lives to gun violence.

The event involved a candlelight vigil, speakers, and networking opportunity after the vigil. Executive Director of March for Our Lives Springfield, China Ly Chanvong spoke with 22News on the purpose behind the movement.

Chanvong explained, “This event today is really us saying that no matter what side of the political spectrum, no matter what you identify as at the end of the day there are hundreds of thousands of lives being lost to gun violence.”

March for Our Lives Springfield’s mission is to highlight gun violence.
