The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission is warning residents to be on the lookout for utility imposters.

The Commission said someone’s pretending to be an employee and trying to gain entry into Springfield homes.

The phony water commission workers tell residents their water needs to be tested.

Customers are reminded that Commission employees almost never arrive unannounced to perform work at your home. Commission employees will also never ask for payments while at your house.

“Don’t let nobody in your house. Don’t give them any answers when they ask questions. Know where you’re at. Be precautious because you have scams out here everywhere,” said Christopher Spears of Springfield.

If someone claims to be a Springfield Water and Sewer Commission employee, don’t let them in.

Ask for their ID card or contact the Commission to verify who they are. If you think they’re an imposter, shut your door and call the police.
