(WFLA) – The first and only full moon for February will be one to watch. The full moon will peak Tuesday, February 19 at 10:53 a.m. EST, but the moon will appear full the night before and the night after.
The February full moon is most commonly known as the Snow Moon due to the typically higher snowfall amounts that occur in February.
This moon will also be a Super Moon. A Super Moon occurs when the moon is at perigee, meaning that the moon is positioned at the point in its orbit where it is closest to the earth.
To the casual observer, the moon will appear brighter and larger than normal. The Super Snow Moon of February 2019 will actually be the largest and brightest full moon of the year.
