St. Martin Boys Basketball: Andre Brunt signs with Snead State CC

Under-recruited high school seniors from the class of 2020 have the added challenge of finding homes at the next level in the aftermath of COVID-19.

St. Martin’s Andre Brunt is one of those players that overcame the odds on both fronts.

This afternoon, the graduating senior finally signed his national letter of intent with Snead State Community College in Boaz, Alabama.

Brunt will be joining a program coming off its fourth straight winning season on the heels of his two-year career at St. Martin.

As a Yellow Jacket, the 6’0” point guard scored more than 1,000 points and Head Coach Charlie Pavlus considers him to be the best ball-handler he’s ever had.

In the midst of these uncertain times, Brunt says the right choice and the only choice for his future are one in the same. “That means a lot. I mean like I guess I’m special, and I just want to do the best I can do at the college and hopefully go up into like a DI or something like that.”

Coach Pavlus said, “The Petal game was unbelievable. He made the first seven 3’s. He was 7-7 to start that game. He had two Dandy Dozens chasing him. His best performance was his last performance, and we came up one bucket short. I hate that the rest of the state didn’t get a chance to see him at the Coliseum, because he is special and unique. And not one time in two years did he ever do anything but say yes sir, no sir. Even in the moments when I’m in his face challenging him, pushing him, he never looked away. He never looked at you sideways. I haven’t had many players do that.”

Brunt moved to the Coast from the Jackson area prior to his junior season. Boaz, Alabama is about twice the drive.
