Mississippi mask mandate now includes 23 counties, continues until at least Aug. 3

On Monday, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves announced new measures to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

In a post to social media, Gov. Reeves said, “COVID-19 is spreading and killing in our state. It is not a hypothetical, it is happening. Today, I’ve extended our executive orders to mitigate the threat—adding 10 counties to the list of those with stricter measures in place.”

The executive order now runs through at least August 3. Gov. Reeves is expected to hold a press conference at 2:30 p.m. Monday to discuss the state response to COVID-19 and some of the new precautions that are being taken.

The 10 Mississippi counties added to the mask mandate are:

  • Bolivar
  • Covington
  • Forrest
  • Humphreys
  • Panola
  • Sharkey
  • Simpsom
  • Tallahatchie
  • Tate
  • Walthall

13 other counties were already under a mask mandate, including:

  • Claiborne
  • DeSoto
  • Grenada
  • Harrison
  • Hinds
  • Jackson
  • Jefferson
  • Madison
  • Quitman
  • Rankin
  • Sunflower
  • Washington
  • Wayne
