Shooting reported early Thursday morning at McCary’s Bar & Grill

The coroner has identified one of the two people who died in a shooting at a Columbia bar early Thursday morning. Tolliver Wise, 29, of Columbia was killed. The Richland County Sheriff's Office said he was a regular customer at McCary's Bar & Grill on Bush River Road.Deputies said the other man who died was 35 years old, but they have not released his name yet.The suspect is still on the run, Richland County deputies said.The shooting was reported Thursday about 2:30 a.m. at McCary’s. It’s off I-26 near the Dutch Square Center in northwest Columbia.Witnesses said bar managers previously told a man he was no longer allowed at the bar.Early Thursday morning, the man showed up at the bar with another person, according to police.Police said when he was told to leave, an argument started.That’s when the suspect pulled out a gun and fired “indiscriminately” at the bar, police said.Deputies said four people were hit in the random gunfire.One person died shortly after the shooting. Police confirmed at about 10 a.m. another victim died from his or her injuries.There was no word on the conditions of the other two people injured.The suspect ran from the bar after the shooting and is still on the loose, deputies said at about 10 a.m.Deputies said they are also trying to identify the person who came to the bar with the suspect.The bar’s owners posted a message Thursday morning on social media, calling the shooting an “unexpected tragedy.”“We would like to think of our bar as a safe and fun environment for those who enter,” the post reads. “McCary’s has and always will have their customers' best interest at heart, and will continue to do what we have to do, to make this bar a safer environment for those who enjoy coming and being with us.”The post ended in a prayer for the victims and a plea for privacy as the bar works through what happened.
