Mother, children abducted in Georgia found safe; search for suspect continues
The Georgia mother and her two children who are believed to have been abducted at knifepoint early Monday morning have been found safe in South Carolina.
Yajaria Ramirez and her children, Scarlet Lira and Kael Lira, were in Jasper County, South Carolina, authorities said Monday afternoon.
Authorities continue to search for the suspect, 22-year-old Jose Portillo.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation activated a Levi's Call, Georgia's Amber Alert, after the abduction early Monday morning.
The Powder Springs Police Department said Portillo abducted the family Monday around 1 a.m.
Portillo is described as being a Hispanic male, who is 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds.
Portillo is driving a white 2016 Kia Sorrento with Georgia plates CAP7259.
