The number of people hospitalized with coronavirus and patients on ventilators in South Carolina increased Tuesday after the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control reported a decline in those numbers over the past several days. As of Tuesday 1,458 patients were hospital with COVID-19 and 355 COVID-19 patients were in the intensive care unit. Of those patients, 254 were ventilated.DHEC said 1,113 ICU beds were in use in the state and 321 were available. That is a utilization rate of 77.62%. DHEC reported 1,168 new confirmed cases and seven new probable cases, 52 additional confirmed deaths and two new probable deaths.This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 93,604 probable cases to 586, confirmed deaths to 1,774, and 73 probable deaths.Confirmed and probable cases: please click here.Confirmed and probable deaths: please click here.As of Monday, a total of 795,871 tests have been conducted in the state. The total number of individual test results reported to DHEC Monday statewide was 6,389 and the percent positive was 18.3%.As part of an ongoing effort to increase testing in underserved and rural communities across the state, DHEC is working with community partners to set up mobile testing clinics that bring testing to these communities. Currently, there are 133 mobile testing events scheduled through Sept. 29 with new testing events added regularly. Find a mobile testing clinic event near you at scdhec.gov/covid19mobileclinics.Residents can visit scdhec.gov/covid19testing for information about getting tested at one of 220 permanent COVID-19 testing facilities across the state.
