WORLAND - Being selected the Regional Star is the highest honor one can receive on the regional level by an FFA member and two Chief Washakie FFA members have earned Regional Stars this year - Elizabeth Voss and Dani Warner.

Regional stars are selected from all State FFA Degree candidates who are applying in the given Star area. FFA Advisors from the region met to review the State FFA degree and Star applications and chose a winner to represent the region at the Wyoming State FFA Convention. Regional Stars were selected in February and then their applications are forwarded on to compete with the other regional stars in their respective areas.

Voss, a senior at Worland High School and Chief Washakie FFA secretary, was selected as the Regional Star in agribusiness.

"Liz has an impressive and diverse Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) that has led her to this award. Liz has been developing and improving her meat goat herd since she started the project in 4H. She has kept impressive records and as a result of her breeding program she sells the offspring that she and her brother Luke do not show to 4-H and FFA members from around the area," FFA Advisor Grace Godfrey said.

At the end of 2019, Voss had six does, one buck and 11 kids. In addition to goats, Voss also has a flock of chickens that she raises and shows market lambs. She is the daughter of Brian and Stephanie Voss and plans to attend Casper College in the fall on a livestock judging scholarship.

Warner, also a senior at Worland High School and the Chief Washakie FFA president, has been selected at the Regional Star in agriscience and the Regional Star Farmer.

Warner has been working in Cloud Peak Veterinary Clinic for the past two years and this past year as a work experience intern for two periods during the school day. Before working at Cloud Peak she worked at Tharp Vet Clinic.

Both positions led her to become the Regional Star in agriscience as she received hands-on training in the veterinary science field. Warner also took personal initiative to become certified in artificial insemination (A.I.).

Warner was also selected as the Regional Star Farmer. In 2019 Warner had one market hog, 19 breeding hogs, three breeding beef and three market beef.

Dani Warner

Godfrey said, "She keeps extensive records and has built an awesome swine farrowing facility that allows her to farrow her pigs in February up off the floor and indoors so they can stay warm and dry. Dani also markets and sells her piglets as well as cattle to 4-H and FFA members around the area. Dani has had cattle in the NILE prospect show for the past few years to help build her name in the show cattle business."

She is the daughter of Mike and Carie Warner and plans to attend Casper College in the fall on a livestock judging scholarship.

State Stars, which is the highest honor one can receive at the state level will be announced later by the Wyoming FFA Association.
