CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -

The heat is back for Wyoming today as temperatures soar for most above the 90 degree mark for the first time this week. The good news is that the severe weather threat will likely be down until Friday when the next system fully moves through Wyoming. A mid-level trough will be bringing a cloudy pattern to Wyoming through much of the rest of the week, starting with tonight. Spotty storm chances will be possible every evening for the rest of the week and into the weekend, but Friday is when the next best chance for rain and severe weather will be, especially for the southeastern portion of Wyoming. Cheyenne will likely see rain chances again on Sunday and Monday of next week.

As for the heat, while the temperatures will be soaring for today, they will very slowly decline through the rest of the week and into the weekend as the trough moves through. Any rain in the afternoon/evening hours will cool things off for the rest of that day, however overnight temperatures for the next several days will be on the warm side because of cloudy conditions expected most nights moving forward for the near future. Wind conditions are expected to remain relatively calm overall for the near future as well, with a couple of strong breezes possible tomorrow for Casper and Friday for Cheyenne (as well as the potential for strong gusts with pop-up storms in the afternoon/evening).
