Johnson ties Post 6 triple record as Cheyenne Sixers 18U beats Laramie in a double-header

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Cheyenne Sixers 18U were on the road against the Laramie Rangers in a double-header where the Sixers beat the Rangers, 13-2, and 7-0. Sixers players, Andrew Johnson and Grant Redman each had multiple hits per game.

In the first game, Cheyenne had nine runs in the 5th inning, including a triple from Johnson, which would surpass former Sixers player and current New York Mets outfielder, Brandon Nimmo for triples in a season. Johnson’s triple tied Braxton Inniss for the most triples in a Post 6 Sixers season at 18. Redman, Johnson, Zack Costopoulos, Ty Lobmeyer, and Dominic Lopez each had RBIs.

Game two was a similar story, as Cheyenne had another strong 5th inning, recording five runs. Redman, Johnson, and Colter McAnelly all had runs in the inning. The Sixers recorded 12 hits in the game. Johnson, Redman, and Kaden Anderson each had multiple hits.

Cheyenne returns home on Monday where they’ll face the Gillette Roughriders at Powers Field in a double-header. Game times are 3:00pm and 5:30pm MDT.
