Boys & Girls Club of Cheyenne unveils new bronze monumental statue

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Boys & Girls Club of Cheyenne unveiled a new bronze monumental sculpture titled ‘Dare to Dream Big.’ Several members from the club, including kids were all gathered outside to watch the new art become a reality.

“It’s finally real. Every day when we walk in we can see this beautiful piece and we can help be inspired by it to dream big for or kids,” Chief Professional Officer of Boys & Girls Club of Cheyenne, Rolinda Sample said.

The sculpture was donated by Tom Roberts and Dixie Roberts, and was sculpted by Wyoming artist, Chris Navarro who sculpted the rodeo champion, Lane Frost, in Cheyenne Frontier Days back in 1993. It's designed to send the message for children and adults to chase their goals and dreams.

“You want to have a message, you want to tell a story with your art, and this tells such a great story,” Sculptor of the statue, Chris Navarro said.

There was also an unveiling of a chalk board, where kids got the chance to write down their dreams. People hope the new art continues to leave a positive impact on the children and adults in the community.

"I feel like the sculptures will have them [Children] have a positive attitude or give them some belief in doing what they want to do when they grow up," member of the Boys & Girls Club of Cheyenne, Audrey Whiteface said.

“It was just a fun piece, the power of belief, dream big and believe and it’s just perfect for this club as well as for the whole community,” Dixie Roberts said. “We saw the installation and the children coming up and touching the cat, standing in front of it and lifting their hands, saying that they believed. It actually brings tears to your eyes.”
