CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - As we watch national headlines right now it could be easy to imagine the nation is simply tearing itself apart instead of coming together. But in Cheyenne, as a single mother is facing uncertainty, a group of contractors are trying to show community is as important as ever.

Carolina McFarlin is a recently single mother of two with a third on the way. She is trying to get a safe, healthy environment for her kids and trying to figure out our future and how to be stable. She has a house, but it is in dire need of renovation - a job she has been trying to do on her own.

Recently she took to social media to ask for a helping hand putting two-by-fours down on her roof, which had been damaged in a recent hailstorm. Her call was answered - but not by just any volunteers.

Derek Young and Justin Ford of Resolution Contractors saw her post and wanted to help. They came and did the work free of charge -- but after leaving, they realized a storm was coming, and the roof still had a long way to go.

So, they came back.

“It started pouring,” Carolina recalls, “It rained like crazy that day. And they stayed on the roof and put the underlayment on so my roof didn’t get wet.”

Calling on their fellow Resolution Contractors - they gave more than Carolina had ever expected by replacing her entire roof.

“We just decided we were going to reach out and do what was right, and help her,” Justin Ford told Wyoming News Now, “And next thing you know all kinds of people are reaching out to help.”

But they didn’t stop there - as they saw the roof wasn’t the only thing in need of help. Now more contractors and even a plumber have joined in helping Carolina finish renovating the house.

For the boys at Resolution, it's about more than charity.

“We all think we have it hard and then you see there are people a lot worse off,” Derek explained, “So it makes you really want to help people and hopefully it makes other people want to do the same.”

For Carolina, their kindness means more than just a roof over her her family’s heads.

“I gives me hope that i’m gonna be ok.”

The guys at Resolution Contractors say that they would like to continue paying it forward.. And are looking at forming a non-profit to help others in need. If you are a contractor and would like to help Derek says to contact them.

You can find them on their website at www.resolutionscontractors.com.
