CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA) announced that fall sports was scheduled to happen this upcoming school year. According to Cheyenne Central Athletic Director, Chad Whitworth, the decision was made through a partnership between the school districts, the WHSAA, the county and state department.

“The thing that our students need is some normalcy and obviously whatever football looks like, whatever volleyball looks like, cross country meets look like may not be exactly normal but it’s going to provide them an opportunity to maybe have some of that day-to-day activity,” Whitworth said.

Student athletes are recommended to practice social distancing such as wearing masks. They are required to bring their own water to practices to slow the spread of COVID-19. Whitworth mentioned that student athletes will not be penalized if they feel sick and decide not to show up to practice, and/or opt out of the fall season.
