A Cheyenne group is celebrating Cinco de Mayo by cruising the capitol city strip. Hispanos Unidos is a non-profit with the mission of bringing the diverse community of Cheyenne together, and they do just that through several celebrations during the year. The biggest of those is usually Cinco de Mayo.

But with the pandemic rolling in and putting the kibosh on any big parties, they decided to have a classic car parade instead - driving from south of I-80 to Lincolnway then down the classic Cheyenne strip.

“With the (COVID-19) going on we're just kind of finding unique ways to celebrate our culture still ,” Hispanos Unidos Committee member Dannelle Moyte said, “So with social distancing and having everybody stay in their vehicles we figured this is the best way so we're just going to kind of do a cruise around town and showcase.”

Normally, the group would hold a Cinco de Mayo celebration at the Outlaw Saloon off South Greeley Highway. To stick with the theme, this year the Outlaw was the starting point for the parade.
