Little Moon Boutique opens doors in Cheyenne

The Little Moon Boutique recently opened its doors in Downtown Cheyenne. The shop is located at 1821 Carey Ave. Owner Tiffany Flournoy is excited to open in the heart of Cheyenne.

Q: How did Little Moon Boutique come about?

A: Little Moon Boutique was created after the passing of my daughter, my “Little Moon”, Payton Flournoy. She was the passenger in a car accident last August. She left this earth a hero by helping over 75 people through organ and tissue donation. As a way to cope, I became curious about the idea of opening a small boutique in Cheyenne. A place to apply my creative energy into, that would bring some light not only into our family’s lives but to others' as well. I wanted to create a unique space that would offer a peaceful feeling when you walk in. My daughter had this ability to light up a room and bring smiles and laughter to everyone she met. My hope was to create a space that could embody this gift she had.

Q: What type of goods does your business sell? Are they locally made?

A: We offer consciously curated gifts and apparel. Meaning most of the items offered at Little Moon are small women-owned businesses, items are made in small batches and not sold on Amazon or in big box stores. They are also socially good which means collectively we are all able to give back to charitable organizations. We offer a unique collection of candles, all-natural bath and body products, journals, jewelry (one of which is local to Cheyenne), accessories and apparel.

Q: What is your ideal audience, who are you trying to sell to?

A: Our ideal audience are all humans. Since we offer unique gifts for men, women and children, we think there is something special for everyone.

Q: What drew you to your current location in Downtown Cheyenne?

A: As I became curious about the idea of opening a boutique I knew I wanted to be in Downtown Cheyenne. I am a lifetime resident of Cheyenne and feel that Downtown is the heart of our town. It holds history and charm and I knew I wouldn’t be happy anywhere else. I wanted to bring more life and energy into downtown even if it is in the smallest way. So when I saw the space at 1821 Carey Avenue I knew I wanted it to be the the home of Little Moon. It’s small, charming and historic; everything I was looking for.

Q: Did COVID-19 alter your original plans for opening?

A: We had originally planned opening in April, but due to the closures of other businesses and delayed shipments of products, we postponed the opening to May 2.

Q: As a small business, are you facing hardships opening right now, or have you had to draw from state or national small business funding?

A: Since I am a brand new business, I have not faced the hardships many other businesses have especially since I don’t have employees.

Q: Have you worked with the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce or Wyoming Small Business Association, and how has that relationship been?

A: I have worked with Downtown Development Association and they have been nothing but supportive and welcoming.
