The Montgomery County Arts and Cultural District is making $40,000 in grant money available to local artists.
Culture Works is overseeing the Artist Opportunity Program, as they have for the last five years, but Grants Manager Karen Maner says arts funding is especially important this year.
"As so many of us are experiencing the isolation of quarantine and public shutdown, we’re really turning to the arts to reconnect with the community," she says.
The organization will award grants ranging from $500 to $3,000, and they’re open to all sorts of endeavors, from dance to writing to visual art. In recent years, they’ve also supported a podcast and a playwright.
Maner says the funding is for artists who live in Montgomery County, have an established body of work, and are recognized by other artists in their field.
