WYOMING, Mich. — Two people were seriously injured in a crash involving a Rapid bus and two vehicles in Wyoming Friday around 11:30 a.m.
According to Kent County Dispatch, the incident happened at Byron Center Avenue SW and Holliday Drive SW.
Wyoming Police said a white car, driven by a 28-year-old Wyoming woman, and the bus were both headed southbound on Byron Center Avenue SW when the white car drifted into oncoming traffic. The black SUV, heading north and driven by a 21-year-old woman, crashed into the white car which hit the bus.
The driver of the white car was extricated and taken to the hospital in serious condition. The driver of the SUV and the Rapid bus were injured, but were not sent to the hospital. There were minor injures reported from passengers on the bus.
Photos from the scene show the white car went off the road as a result of the crash. The front windshield of the bus fell out.
A neighbor in the area said he heard a loud bang and went out to the scene of the crash. He helped the driver of the black SUV get out of the car, and he saw the fire department extricate the the driver of the white car.
The Rapid issued this statement: "We are grateful for the fast response and support from local emergency personnel. All of us at The Rapid are hoping for a full and fast recovery for all involved.”
