PLANS have been submitted for a house near York Railway Institute to be converted into four holiday flats.

The proposals would see the basement, first floor, second floor and loft at 13 Queen Street turned into separate one-bedroom lets.

The planning application says the scheme will create a “very usable” group of flats close to transport links and within sight of the city walls.

A statement says: “This application will generate income for the city both from the tourism and also employment, as the flats will need to be serviced and the property maintained to the highest standard.

“The site is a terraced property, just beyond the city wall, it faces it from across the five lanes of highway that is its frontage.”

The application says there will be no major construction work but insulation will be improved and the property will be rewired.

It adds that there is one residents’ parking permit and guests can also use nearby car parks.
