The Richmond Community Theatre was broken into last week.

ROCKINGHAM — The Rockingham Police Department investigated a break-in at the Richmond Community Theatre on Aug. 3, and has since recovered the stolen items.

At 11:37 a.m., Rockingham Police responded to the Richmond Community Theatre in downtown Rockingham following a report of a suspect breaking into the building and stealing a Presario CQ56 laptop computer with Windows 10 Home Premium Edition.

According to a police department incident report, the suspect caused $50 of damage to the glass on the front door of the building and $20 of damage to the theater drop box.

Lt. George Gillenwater, public information officer for the Rockingham Police Department, said they recovered and returned the stolen property, but that the theater had elected not to press charges in the matter.

Merrie Dawkins, director of the Theatre, declined to comment on the matter.
