ZFD dealt with early morning fires

ZANESVILLE - The Zanesville Fire Department dealt with three fires early Tuesday morning. Assistant Chief Doug Doug Vanderbark said all three are still under investigation and are not considered linked. There were no injuries.

The first occurred at 4:49 a.m. at a small shed belonging to a tire shop near the intersection of West Main and State streets. Vanderbark could not say if the building was a total loss or what the dollar value of damages would be.

The second occurred at 6:23 a.m. in the 600 block of Matthews Street at an old church building. It was an exterior fire that caused damage to outside siding and some smoke damage inside. Estimate on damages is $5,000. Vanderbark said the building is being used by a club, and is no longer a church.

The third was a very small cooking fire in a kitchen of a home in the 600 block of Prospect Avenue that mainly caused smoke damage. It occurred at 6:53 a.m. and was due to overcooked food in a pan.
