Sheridan, John Glenn volleyball stay atop MVL

DUNCAN FALLS - Ally Perkins, Cassie Amore and Brooklyn Heller hit seven kills apiece, as visiting Sheridan remained perfect in the Muskingum Valley League with a 25-11, 25-16, 25-18 win over Philo on Thursday.

Grace Conrad went 20 for 20 at the service line with 20 assists, 11 digs, five kills and two aces, while Faith Stinson added six kills and three blocks, Heller 13 digs and two aces, Amore three assists and Julia Finck 19 digs for the Generals (18-1).

Bethany Colling was 100-percent serving with 11 kills, 12 digs, two assists and a block to pace the Electrics (5-9 MVL), while Natalie May had 16 assists, 12 digs and 100-percent serving, Darbi Henderson five digs, three kills, an ace and 100-percent serving, Joleigh Harrop eight digs, three kills and 100-percent serving, and Ashley Pletcher 11 digs and 100-percent serving.

Sheridan reserves won 25-8, 25-17 behind six kills by Alicia Cannon; 15 assists, four digs and an ace by Clare Finck; and eight assists and five kills from Alexis Bradley.

John Glenn 25, 25, 25, Maysville 16, 18, 17: Abigail Walker collected 11 kills and Lyndi Slack and Ashlyn Yarger added 10 kills each, as the visiting Muskies (14-4, 11-1) kept pace in the league race.

Slack chipped in 12 digs and two aces, Yarger six digs and three blocks, Walker eight digs, five blocks and an ace, Abby Dickson 27 assists, three digs, two kills and two blocks, Madelyn Adkins nine digs, Neleah Huston five kills and five blocks, Kenzie Knellinger five kills and three digs and Layni Gillespie three digs in the victory.

Lauren Pickrell had 18 digs, five kills and two blocks, Katlyne Terrill 13 assists, nine digs and an ace, Bailee Smith 16 digs and an ace, Kassidy Rock six kills and two blocks and Paige Webb seven digs and four kills for the Panthers (12-7, 10-3).

John Glenn reserves (14-5, 11-2) won 25-17, 25-16, as Emma Johnson finished with nine kills, four digs and 100-percent serving, Hannah DeMattio seven kills and Kylie Pontius 17 assists, four digs and 100-percent serving. Emma McPeek totaled eight digs, Olivia Heckel seven assists and three digs and Mallori Bradley six digs and two kills for Maysville (8-11, 7-6).

New Lex 25, 25, 25, Morgan 10, 17, 12: Ashtyn Montgomery's 12 digs, eight kills and five blocks led a balanced effort in the Panthers' victory.

Aubri Spicer chipped in eight blocks, seven kills and three digs, Jerilynn Koehler 10 kills and seven blocks, Carrie Kallaus 12 assists and two kills and Lydia Stephens 12 assists for the winners.

Sophia Smith tallied eight kills, Ella Morrow five kills and four digs, Kenzi Zumbro 17 assists and eight digs, Josie Wells 11 digs and Emilee Konkler four digs and three aces for the Raiders.

Rosecrans 23, 25, 25, 25, Millersport 25, 21, 19, 23: Kelly Goggin had a career high 42 assists, 10 digs, and an ace to lead the Bishops (8-11, 4-5) in Mid-State League action.

Lily McLaughlin totaled 16 kills, 10 digs, and 1.5 blocks, Carly Caldwell chipped in 16 kills, 27 digs, and an ace, Sam Rush had 18 digs and was 23 out of 23 on serves with three aces and Jerzie Johnson had nine kills and five digs for the Bishops.

Tri-Valley 25, 20, 25, 25, West Muskingum 17, 25, 22, 17: Abby Stanford hit 18 kills with 12 blocks and five digs and Hannah King contributed 16 kills, 13 digs and four blocks in the Scotties' victory.

Riley Albertson had 20 assists, five digs and two aces, Kendra Thomas: 22 assists, three digs and an ace and Trinity VanDusen 25 digs and an ace for the winners.

Hayley Barker tallied a career high 23 kills to go with eight digs and five blocks, Kenzie Vandenbark made 14 digs and Sydney McWhorter served three aces.

Boys Golf

Sheridan qualifies for district tournament: The Generals totaled 368 to place third in the Division I sectional meet at Crown Hill.

The top four teams and top four individuals on non-qualifying teams will compete in next week's district meet on Tuesday at EagleSticks.

Reed Coconis carded an 89, Blake Turnes a 91, Brody Border a 93 and Cooper Winders a 95 for Sheridan's scoring. Jesse Gillenwater also had 101.

Marietta won with 333, Vincent Warren was second with 334 and Athens came in fourth at 374.

Marietta's J.B. Wharf and Warren's Caleb Davis tied for medalist honors with a 79.

Boys Soccer

Tri-Valley 3, West Muskingum 1: The Scotties kept control of the MVL with a win, as the match ended early due to an electrical outage.

Hayden Whitt knocked in a penalty kick, while Dustin Watts and Gino Repuyan also had goals for Tri-Valley on Senior Night.

John Glenn 7, Philo 2: The visiting Muskies built a 5-1 halftime lead in a MVL victory.
