North Dakota, Vermont post lowest jobless rates in March

North Dakota and Vermont posted the lowest jobless rates among all states in March at 2.3% each, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics announced today. Alaska had the highest unemployment rate in March at 6.5%.

The BLS noted six states had decreases in jobless rates during March from the previous month. The largest were in Colorado, Ohio and Wyoming; the jobless rates fell by 0.2 of a percentage point in all three states.

In addition, the jobless rates increased in three states: California, Minnesota and Washington. The unemployment rates rose by 0.1 of a percentage point in each state. The remaining 41 states and the District of Columbia had jobless rates that were not notably different from the previous month.
