Lok Sabha election results 2019: BJP, Congress each retain 1 seat in Goa

The counting of votes for six Lok Sabha seats in Goa, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Lakshadweep and Daman and Diu combined along with 536 other constituencies, began at 8 am on Thursday.

Lok Sabha election results 2019: BJP, Congress each retain 1 seat in Goa

Both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress retained one Lok Sabha seat in Goa. While Shripad Yesso Naik of the BJP won from North Goa Lok Sabha Constituency, Congress' Cosme Francisco Caitano Sardinha bagged the South Goa seat.  

Naik defeated Congress' Girish Raya Chondakar by a margin of 80,247 votes to retain the seat which he won in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Sardinha, on the other hand, won the South Goa seat after claiming victory by a margin of 9,755 votes against Adv. Narendra Sawaikar of BJP. 

Meanwhile, Independent candidate Delkar Mohanbhai Sanjibhai bagged the lone Lok Sabha seat in Dadra and Nagar Haveli by beating BJP's Patel Natubhai Gomanbhai with a margin of 9,001 votes.

BJP's Lalubhai Babubhai Patel won from Daman and Diu constituency by defeating Ketan Dahyabhai Patel of Congress with 9, 942 votes. 

Kuldeep Rai took the lone Lok Sabha seat in Andaman and Nicobar Islands for Congress after beating Vishal Jolly of BJP with 1,407 votes.

#  Lok Sabha Election result 2019: For the first time in 25 years, BJP failed to retain the Panaji Assembly constituency which was largely represented by long-time MLA and late chief minister of the state, Manohar Parrikar. BJP candidate Sidharth Kuncalienkar suffered defeat against Atanasio Monserrate of Congress by a narrow margin of 1,758 votes. 

# Lok Sabha Election result 2019: It is a third consecutive win for Lalubhai. The BJP leader had also won in 2009 and 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

# Lok Sabha Election result 2019: Winner! BJP's Lalubhai Babubhai Patel takes the lone seat in Daman and Diu by defeating Ketan Dahyabhai Patel of Congress with 9, 942 votes.

  • BJP's Shripad Yesso Naik (North Goa): Leading by 33,118 votes
  • Congress' Cosme Francisco Caitano Sardinha (South Goa): Leading by 1,001 votes
  • BJP's Vishal Jolly (Andaman & Nicobar Islands): Leading by 13,354 votes
  • BJP's Patel Natubhai Gomanbhai (Dadar and Nagar Havely): Leading by 10, 234 votes
  • BJP's Lalubhai Babubhai Patel (Daman and Diu): Leading by 9, 942 votes
  • NCP's Mohammed Faizal PP (Lakshadweep): Leading by 402 votes

# Lok Sabha Election result 2019: Mohammed Faizal PP of Nationalist Congress Party is leading from lone Lakshadweep constituency.  BJP's Patel Natubhai Gomanbhai surges ahead in Dadar & Nagar Haveli to take a lead of 3,396 votes against Independent candidate Delkar Mohanbhai Sanjibhai. 

#  Lok Sabha Election result 2019: BJP's Vishal Jolly is leading in lone Andaman and Nicobar constituency against Congress' Kuldeep Rai Sharma. He has extended his lead to 9,370 votes. 

# Lok Sabha Election result 2019: BJP's Shripad Yesso Naik continues to lead from North Goa with 22, 268 votes while Cosme Francisco Caitano Sardinha of Congress is ahead from in South Goa.

According to the apex court's instructions, the VVPAT slips of at least five EVMs per assembly segment in a Lok Sabha constituency will be counted and it will be done  only after the last round of counting.

A total of 15 candidates are contesting for one seat in Andaman and Nicobar Islands,  12 for two Lok Sabha seats in Goa, 11 for one seat in Dadar and Nagar Haveli, eight for one seat in Lakshadweep and four candidates for one seat in Daman and Diu.

As far as prominent faces are concerned, Congress' Girish Raya Chodankar and Cosme Francisco Caitano Sardinha, Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Shripad Yesso Naik and Narendra Sawaikar and Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Dattatraya Padgaonkar and Elvis Gomes were the key members who contested for the two Lok Sabha seats in Goa.

Congress' Tokiya Prabhubhai, Bahujan Samaj Party's (BSP) Dongarkar Ishwarbhai Gopjibhai, BJP's Patel Natubhai Gomanbhai , Bahujan Mukti Party's Janathiya Pravinbhai Ladakbhai and Shivsena's Patel Ankita Amrutbhai are a few prominent candidates contesting for general elections 2019 in Dadar and Nagar Haveli.

From Daman and Diu Lok Sabha Constituency, Congress' Ketan Dahyabhai Patel , BJP's Lalubhai Babubhai Patel, BSP's Sakil Latif Khan are few prominent candidates.

It will be interesting to see whether the actual results will match the exit polls or the situation will exactly be the other way round.
